Dr. Resulaj is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at University of Toronto Mississauga. Her research is focused on understanding how neural circuits enable perception, memory and decision-making. She received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from University of Toronto. She received her Ph.D. from University of Cambridge, where she was a student in the Cambridge-Janelia Ph.D. program. She worked with Drs. Daniel Wolpert and Michael Shadlen to combine theoretical approaches and experimental findings to study decision-making in humans. She then worked with Dr. Dmitry Rinberg to develop tools and methods to study the timing of olfactory perceptual decisions in mice. Dr. Resulaj’s postdoctoral work was with Dr. Massimo Scanziani at UCSF and Dr. Joshua Trachtenberg at UCLA where she studied visual decision-making. Her current work is focused on developing methods to study short term memory in mice.
Jaskiran Garcha, Graduate Student
I am a first-year graduate student in Resulaj Lab. My work focuses on understanding neural circuitry concerning the visual system. Other than my research, I enjoy hiking and travelling.
Avani Krishnan, Graduate Student
Avani completed her Honours B.Sc. from the University of Toronto with a double major in Neuroscience and English. Under Dr. Peter Giacobbe’s supervision, she did her undergraduate thesis on the effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation in alleviating symptoms of PTSD. She joined the Resulaj lab as a Masters’s student, where she is investigating the role of higher visual areas in visual perception.
